Temple Description

The tale of Annamma traces back to the time of Tipu Sultan. Uttarahalli, which was then a predominantly Christian area, was located beside the route used by Tipu’s cavalry. According to the legend from that era, a young girl named Annamma was assaulted by Mysore soldiers. In her attempt to flee, she fell from a hill.

The Annamma Devi Temple was constructed by the chieftain Hanumantha Nayaka during the rule of Immadi Gowda of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is renowned as one of the leading temples dedicated to the fever goddess and attracts numerous devotees every day.
