During Sri Ramanujacharya’s time in Thondanuru and Melukote, he personally worshipped the idols at the temple. Over the years, the temple lost its significance and was primarily visited by the local villagers. In a dream, Lord Srinivasa appeared to Sri Chikkanna Dasa, instructing him to relocate the idols to a more suitable place for worship. With the help of Sri Sampath Krishna Jois, a respected figure in the Mysore palace during the reign of Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, Sri Chikkanna Dasa successfully moved the idols to their current location in 1937, following the necessary legal steps to obtain rights from the muzrai department.
