On a trip to Nanjangud, tourists are recommended to visit Parashurama Kshetra, which is known as the confluence of Kapila and Kaundinya rivers. It is the place, where Parashurama atoned the sin of beheading his mother and achieved peace of mind. At this place, Parashurama accidentally hit the Lord Shiva’s head with an axe who, then, asked him to construct a temple and perform penance here. It is believed that pilgrimage to Nanjangud cannot be completed without visiting Parashurama Kshetra.
