Temple Description

This excellent trikuta sanctuary is devoted to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in the fundamental western garbhagriha with Masters Chennakeshava and Venugopala in the other two cells. The Shikara here has a few fine carvings. At the entrance to the sanctuary are two elephant statues. This is a 13th century temple built by Hoysala. The commonplace Hoysala engineering is unmistakable. It is a little but amazingly wonderful thrikootachala sanctuary. When you enter temple Chennakeshava in the garbhagrha on to the right is Lakshminarasimha with Goddess Lakshmi. Her leg rests on a lotus bloom and since of her weight L the lotus is bowed a bit and an elephant is holding the lotus . The prabha has dashavathara etched (as with Chennakeshava). On the inverse side is Master Venugopala with complicated carvings with Krishna’s epic stories in form. At the entrance of Chennakeshava, we can discover Ganesha on the cleared out hand side and Chamundeshwari (greatly sensitive and complex carving to the final conceivable detail) can be found. Chamundeshwari is not adored as her arm is broken.

The fundamental mahamantapa has radiant carvings on the roof delineating the plantain blossom theme. In expansion, fair underneath are eight superb carvings of the diverse devas. The whole sanctuary underneath the lintel level exterior have exceptionally few carvings but the figures over are fair so point by point that it would take days to see them all. The commonplace star shape is taken after here as well. In any case not sufficient care is taken to keep them in great condition – what has stood for over 700 a long time has to stand for descendants to appreciate the wonders of the bygone period.
