The Halasuru Someshwara Temple, situated in the Halasuru neighborhood of Bangalore, Karnataka, India, is one of the city’s oldest temples, originating from the Chola period and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Significant enhancements were made during the late Vijayanagara Empire under the reign of Hiriya Kempe Gowda II.
Constructed by the Chalukyas of Kalyani in Karnataka, Someshwara temples feature Tamil inscriptions, indicating the presence of Tamil-speaking Mudaliars (Tuluva Vellala) who settled in parts of Tamil Nadu, including Arcot, during that era. The temple is overseen by the Muzarai department, with the principal priests being Shri Ramanatha Dikshitaru, Shri Sundara Dikshitaru, and Shri Shanmukha Dikshitaru.
