The Lakshmikanta temple received significant support from various rulers of the Mysore Kingdom. King Dodda Krishnaraja I of the Mysore Wodeyar dynasty expanded the temple and made generous donations before around 1732. In the early 18th century, Dalavoy Devarajiah from the influential Kalale family contributed a remarkable metallic statue of the Hindu god Rama during his later years. According to historians Habib, Hasan, and Sampath, in 1791, Tipu Sultan, the de facto ruler of Mysore, presented the temple with silver gifts, including four cups, a plate, and a spittoon (padiga). The inscriptions on these gifts serve as evidence of Tipu Sultan’s donations, as noted by Habib and Hasan.
